Joshua Morris

Joshua practices predominantly in criminal law and statutory prosecutions. Joshua has extensive experience appearing in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts for both the prosecution and defendants.

In addition to trials, sentences and bail applications, Joshua is frequently briefed to provide advice on the strength of evidence and prospects of defending charges.

Joshua has experience in prosecuting and defending a range of charges including drug trafficking, supplies and possession, arson, strangulation, indecent treatment, armed robbery, fraud, money laundering, assaults, breaches of domestic violence orders and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Joshua is available to be briefed in all criminal matters, statutory prosecutions, disciplinary proceedings or false imprisonment actions.

An appeal against the appellant’s conviction for murder. The decision concerned the application of defence of dwelling and Edwards lies.

Clinton v Commissioner of Police [2022] QDC 222

A successful appeal against the recording of a conviction. The decision concerned whether a sentencing magistrate erred in recording a conviction when describing an offence of evading police as a “traffic offence”.

R v Smith (aka Stella) (2021) 8 QR 338; [2021] QCA 139

A successful appeal against the appellant’s conviction for murder with an order for a retrial. The decision concerned the defence of diminished responsibility.
